Sofa cleaning
Professional extraction cleaning of sofas, armchairs and chairs, at your home.

What builds up in a sofa over time
A sofa you use every day takes in skin particles, hair, crumbs, sweat and everything carried in on clothes. Over a year that is between two and four kilograms of material, which works down into the filling and stays there. A vacuum lifts the top layer and leaves the rest.
Extraction also lifts what has worked down into the filling. The product is sprayed into the fabric under pressure and drawn straight back out with the dirt. You can see the dirt in the water that collects in the machine's tank.
All of it happens in your home, in one visit. Nothing is taken apart or carted off. The furniture is left slightly damp rather than wet.
- On site, nothing taken apart or moved out
- We test the fabric somewhere hidden before we start
- Every stain treated separately, by its cause
- We neutralise odours, including from pets
- Usable again after 4 to 8 hours

How the clean runs
Inspection and fabric test
We check the label and test somewhere hidden, usually under a cushion or on the back. Fabrics with a lot of viscose do not take water, and that has to be checked before we start.
Deep vacuuming
With a turbo head, before any water, including between and under the seats. Wet a dry fabric full of dust and the dust turns to mud.
Stain treatment
Each stain is treated according to what caused it. The final result depends on this step more than on the extraction itself.
Extraction, panel by panel
We work in overlapping passes, panel to seam, rather than only over the visible stain. That is why a properly cleaned sofa has no tide marks once dry.
Drying and handover
We draw out the moisture left in the fabric and speed up drying with ventilation. We show you the water collected.
Why we clean on site at your home
The furniture stays with you
Nothing is taken apart or carted off to a workshop. We finish in one visit.
Products without heavy fragrance
Upholstery holds fragrance for days. We use products that neutralise odour rather than masking it.
We test before we clean
Always somewhere hidden. If the fabric will not take extraction, we tell you and we do not risk your furniture.
An honest forecast
We say what we expect to lift and what we do not, before we start.
Slightly damp, not wet
Proper extraction removes almost all the water. The sofa is usable that evening.
A professional machine
The difference from a machine you hire is the pressure and the suction, not the product.

The same team, the same standard, every visit.
Five mistakes people make cleaning a sofa themselves
We have seen all of them, and each makes a professional clean afterwards harder.
Rubbing a fresh stain
Rubbing drives the stain into the filling and frays the surface of the fabric. Blot from the outside in with a white cloth.
Warm water on protein stains
Blood, milk and egg coagulate with heat and set. Cold water only.
Over-wetting
Water that goes in has to come out. Without suction it sinks into the filling, dries over days and leaves a stale smell.
Cleaning only the stain
Clean one spot and you get a light circle in otherwise darkened fabric. Work the whole panel, to the seam.
One product for everything
Greasy, protein and tannin stains need different chemistry. A universal product gives a poor result on all three.

If you have a pet
Hair works into the weave and an ordinary vacuum will not lift it. Before extraction we go over the fabric with a turbo head and a rubber brush. It is a separate stage and it takes time, but without it the hair simply gets wet and stays put.
If there has been a urine accident, tell us beforehand, even if it was a long time ago. It needs a neutraliser that breaks down the salts, or the smell comes back in humid weather.
Worth knowing

What to do with a fresh stain
- Blot, never rub, rubbing drives it deeper
- Work from the outside in so you do not spread it
- Use a white cloth so no dye transfers onto the furniture
- Do not pour household remedies on at random, vinegar and bicarbonate fix some stains permanently
- For red wine and blood, cold water, never warm
- Call the same day, a fresh stain almost always lifts
Leather, faux leather and alcantara
Leather is not cleaned by extraction. For leather we clean and condition with an appropriate product, which is a different service. Faux leather is cleaned on the surface and does not tolerate strong solvents, because the top layer cracks.
Alcantara and microfibre are treated with reduced moisture and gentler brushing, so the pile does not go shiny. If you are not sure which fabric you have, send a photo of the label and we will tell you.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the sofa take to dry?
Usually 4 to 8 hours depending on the fabric and ventilation. We leave it slightly damp, not wet, and with good airflow it is usable that evening.
Will every stain come out?
Most will. Old ink, hair dye or bleach marks may be permanent. We tell you honestly at the inspection what to realistically expect.
Is it safe for allergy sufferers?
Yes. Extraction removes a significant proportion of mites and allergens, and the products are free from strong fragrances. For a lasting effect it is best repeated every 6 to 12 months.
Can a leather sofa be cleaned?
Leather is not cleaned by extraction. For leather we clean and condition with an appropriate product, a separate service which we also offer.
Do I need to move the sofa?
No. We work in place and create the access we need. About a metre of clear space around the furniture is enough.
Will there be a smell afterwards?
While the fabric dries there is a faint damp smell, but once it is dry that goes completely. If you are sensitive to it, pick a day when you can ventilate well.
Can it be combined with a deep clean?
Yes, and it makes sense. Upholstery is cleaned after the deep clean so dust does not settle on damp fabric. Booking both is discounted.
Do you clean the cushions too?
Yes, both sides, including the undersides of removable cushions. The filling is not taken out, the cover is treated.
What about pet hair?
Before extraction we go over the fabric with a turbo head and a rubber brush. It is a separate stage, because once wet the hair fixes in place and no longer lifts.
Is there a minimum booking?
Yes, €25. For a single chair it works out better to combine it with another service.
Can I sit on the sofa straight away?
Better to wait at least two hours. After that yes, preferably not in dark clothing while the fabric is still damp.
Do you work at weekends?
Yes, Saturday is a working day for us. Sunday by prior arrangement.
How is payment handled and do you invoice?
Cash once you accept the work, or by bank transfer. We issue invoices on request, including to companies.
Can I send a photo instead of booking an inspection?
Yes, and for upholstery it is the preferred option. From a photo of the fabric and the marks we can give a price and a realistic forecast.
What is alcantara and how is it cleaned?
A synthetic microfibre that imitates suede. It is treated with reduced moisture and gentler brushing so the pile does not go shiny.
Will the fabric shrink?
Not if the settings are right. Shrinkage happens when water is too hot for natural fibres, which is why the temperature is chosen to suit the material.
How many items can you clean in one visit?
Usually one corner sofa plus two to four chairs, or two sofas. For more we plan a longer visit.
What if I am not happy?
Tell us within 24 hours and we come back free of charge. If the result genuinely cannot be improved, we say so at the inspection.
Still have a question?
Call us. We answer questions without expecting a booking.
