Deep cleaning

Thorough cleaning of every room, including the places nobody usually reaches.

Once a year, a home needs resetting

Regular cleaning maintains what is visible. A deep clean deals with what is not visible but is felt, such as the grease on top of the cupboards above the hob, the limescale in the grout, the dust behind the radiators, the marks on the window frames that have quietly become part of the scenery.

We work top to bottom and inside out: appliances and cupboard interiors first, then surfaces, floors last. That is why a deep clean cannot be rushed. A one-bedroom flat takes between 5 and 7 hours with a team of two.

It is most often booked before moving into a new home, at the end of a tenancy, before or after the holidays, and once a year as maintenance.

  • Window frames, sills and blinds

What separates a deep clean from a regular one

If you have been unsure which service you need, the difference is here.

Only in a deep clean

  • Appliance interiors, oven, fridge, microwave
  • Cupboards inside, on top and behind
  • Grout treated for mould and limescale
  • Window frames, sills, blinds and radiators
  • Light fittings and ventilation grilles
  • Work behind and under movable furniture

Outside the scope

  • Construction dust and paint marks, that is post-renovation cleaning
  • Upholstery, mattress and carpet cleaning, a separate service
  • External window cleaning above the first floor
  • Tidying and putting away personal belongings
  • Removal of bulky waste
  • Repairs and minor fixes

Upholstery cleaning is often booked alongside a deep clean, same day, and discounted together.

How the day runs

Walkthrough and preparation

We go through the property together, note the problem areas and confirm which cupboards are opened and which are not. Sensitive surfaces are covered.

15–20 minutes

Appliances and soaking

The oven, extractor filters and grout are treated first, because the product needs time to work. While it does, the team works elsewhere, so there is no waiting around.

first hour

Cupboards and surfaces, top down

Everything high before anything low: wardrobe tops, lighting, cupboard interiors, then worktops and furniture. Whatever falls is collected in the next stage.

2–3 hours

Wet areas in depth

Bathroom and kitchen, the most time-consuming part. Grout, limescale, traps, tiling to full height.

1.5–2 hours

Floors and handover

Vacuuming, wet cleaning, waste removed, and a walkthrough with you. Anything short of expectation is put right on the spot.

final hour

Time and price by floor area

A deep clean is priced per square metre because the scope is fixed. Condition affects the time, not the task list.

Why it is worth doing once a year

It resets the baseline

After a deep clean, regular upkeep takes half the time. The cost pays for itself within a few months of a contract.

Mould is treated, not hidden

Bathroom grout is treated with a product that works in depth, rather than bleaching the surface white for a fortnight.

Safe to occupy immediately

Even in the harshest areas we use products that do not require long airing. You can come home the same evening.

Appliances are dismantled

Oven shelves and glass, extractor filters, all removed and cleaned separately rather than wiped from the outside.

Within a single day

We work in a team so the job does not stretch across two days. Properties up to 120 m² finish within the working day.

A walkthrough at the end

We go through the property with you before leaving. Anything noted is put right there and then, not at a later visit.

If you are ending a tenancy

A deep clean is the single most common cause of deposit disputes. Ask us for a record of the work carried out with photographs, a document you can put in front of your landlord.

Book the clean after you have moved your belongings out, not before. An empty property cleans more thoroughly and costs less.

„They deep cleaned a flat that had been rented out for six years. Honestly, I did not believe the bathroom could come back to that state without replacing the grout.“

Worth knowing

When to book one

There are four natural moments: before moving into a new home, at the end of a tenancy, before a significant family occasion, and once a year as maintenance, usually early spring or the end of the heating season, when radiators and window frames have collected the most.

If a home has not had a deep clean in more than two years, the first visit almost always takes longer than estimated. That is why the inspection is free. We would rather be wrong about the estimate before the work than about the bill after it.

What can realistically be achieved, and what cannot

Limescale, grease and surface mould come out in over 90% of cases. But there are limits no product crosses: silicone that has yellowed and degraded internally is replaced, not cleaned; a scratched enamel bath is not restored by cleaning; grout where mould has penetrated the compound itself lightens, but does not return to white.

At the inspection we tell you which of these we can see, so expectations and results do not diverge afterwards.

Deep cleaning and upholstery on the same day

  • Upholstery is cleaned after the deep clean, never before, otherwise dust settles on damp fabric
  • A sofa dries in 4–8 hours, so the booking is for the first half of the day
  • Booking both saves a visit and is discounted
  • For allergy sufferers the combination gives a noticeably greater effect than either service alone

Frequently asked questions

How long does a deep clean take?

For a one-bedroom flat, usually 5–7 hours with a team of two. Larger or heavily soiled properties take longer, agreed at the inspection.

Does it include windows?

Yes, for windows reachable from inside, meaning frames, glass and sills. Upper floors needing external access require additional equipment and are quoted separately.

How is this different from post-renovation cleaning?

After building work there is construction dust, paint, silicone and plaster, which need different equipment and more stages. If there has been recent work, the service you need is post-renovation cleaning.

Do I need to be there all day?

No. Being present at the start for the walkthrough and at the end for handover is enough. Many clients leave a key and return in the evening.

Will delicate surfaces be damaged?

No. Before starting we confirm the materials (natural stone, solid wood, matt paint, brass) and select products accordingly. When in doubt we test somewhere hidden.

Can you do just the kitchen and bathroom?

Yes. It is a common request and works out considerably cheaper than the whole property. It is priced per room rather than per square metre.

What should I do before you arrive?

Put away personal belongings and remove anything you are throwing out. You do not need to move furniture. That is our job.
